Pool & garden

The house is on the edge of a group of three other houses which in no way intrude on our house or garden.

The delightful private, salt system swimming pool (30 X 15 feet) is set in a peaceful secluded olive grove, hidden from the house. The pool is built into the gentle hillside, with a paved, grassed and planted surround. Wide steps lead into the pool itself, making it safe easy access for all ages. A spacious terrace with discrete lighting has wonderful views through trees, across rolling hills to the south.
The garden is bounded by olive groves and looks over peaceful uninhabited countryside with a C13th church in the distance, offering complete seclusion and tranquility.

Immediately outside the house is a paved terrace with a vine-covered pergola. Beyond are grass, fruit trees, shrubs, more terraces, outhouses, a paved open barn, a working pizza/bread oven and built in barbecue. Several furnished outside sitting areas, including a shady grassed terrace under a walnut tree, complete the idyllic setting.

The garden is full of butterflies, fireflies in the early summer and many harmless pretty lizards. The quiet fields around the house are awash with wild flowers. On the whole the wildlife is shy. You may see hoopoes, buzzards, moths which look and behave like humming birds and pine martins. At nightfall and dawn we have seen foxes, deer and hares nearby. You will hear distant church bells and nightingales, frogs, cicadas, and maybe wild boar; smell broom jasmine and rosemary; find porcupine quills, blackberries and wild plums. You may eat our cherries, walnuts, greengages, pears, grapes and flavour your cooking with herbs from the garden and fields.
